Book Review: A Winter Knight's Vigal by Shauna Aura Knight

“A Winter Knight’s Vigil” by Shauna Aura Knight!

(Now Available for $2.99)
Sexy, kilt-wearing Tristan has captured Amber’s attention on many occasions. But as members of the Kingsword coven, which has strict rules about intimate relationships inside the circle, dating him is out of the question.
When the coven heads to a secluded woodland cabin to celebrate the Winter Solstice, Amber finds herself closer than ever to Tristan. As the Longest Night approaches and their group’s ritual workings intensify, the pair realizes that they can hide from their feelings no longer.
Just as King Arthur held vigil before being knighted, Tristan and Amber face their shadows—and the realization that one or both of them might have to leave the coven.
Or can they be together without breaking their honor?

My Thoughts

Amber had a rough year. She lost her job and had to move into a smaller apartment. The only bright side is that her coven has stood by her side through everything. They even chipped in so she can join them for a Yule retreat. All she has to do is offer up her cooking skills. The night before the ritual, they all get a little drunk and reveal some secrets, but Amber holds back the biggest secret of them all. She has feelings for one of her coven brothers, but that is against the rules. She wants to follow her heart and tell the sexy Tristan how she feels, but she doesn't want to lose the coven that provides the only stability in her life. Before the sun rises after the longest night of the year, both Amber and Tristan will have to make a choice.

A Winter Knight's Vigil is a fabulous story with a few steamy scenes, but it also offers a look into some interesting pagan beliefs. The characters in the book follow an Arthurian path, and I found the detailed rituals that are described very interesting.  This novella is the perfect combination of romance and spiritualism and definitely a great read on a cold winter's night.
